Wonderful 1940s Blue French Chantilly Lace Ball Gown, with a magnificent waterfall fishtail train.
Purchased in 1941 it is 80 years old, but is in excellent wearable condition. The gown has been freshly dry cleaned.
Previously owned by a British actress from the 1940s and 50s
The skirt of the gown has a net underskirt and is also lined throughout with blue rayon silk.
To the back is a waterfall of rayon Georgette, which forms the fishtail. At the waist is a ver broad sash, which is fastened either side of the back zip. This zip is metal and is approximately 16” long. The Chantilly lace has some small slits, but these are very well hidden within the folds of the dress.
The bodice is darted and fashioned, Bardot style which has ruffle shoulder straps
