Fabulous, stylish and genuine unworn vintage yukata kimono from about 1952
As with traditional yakata, it’s been made from a very good quality fabric hand printed in an Art Deco style onto silk which is clean and crisp.
Huge flowers with dainty birds adorn the outer fabric, whilst the lining is a cream silk edged in pink.
Usually these garments are never lined, this is an exception and was probably made for the western market.
Traditionally they are worn open and do not come with a Obi, that’s the belt, as these are usually purchased separately if required.
These garments are never machine stitched, but are completely hand sewn as this one is. The stitching is exceptionally good and without damage or pulls, although there are some slight age marks to the fabric
This robe was part of a very exclusive private fashion collection of a noted designer, it’s been Freshly dry cleaned (July 2020) and is ready to wear.
This garment doesn’t have a size label, so I have given the following measurements taken seam to seam.
