Vintage University Graduation Robe Hooded Cape Cloak Gothic Art Deco
Stunning Pristine 1930s Bachelors Graduation Gown.
The Kalos gown was made in Edinburgh by Stark Brothers
These gowns were made to be worn by either sex. Originally it belonged to a lady University graduate and was sized to fit a 40” Chest.
The gown is extremely full and made from the finest woven heavy fabric, with stiffening to the yoke and shoulders and has accordion pleating at the shoulders and back (fluted) with full return plackets to the front. The sleeves are in the batwing style which are quite Gothic, full and flowing.
It is in exquisite condition, the gown has in places been hand finished, the needle work is exemplary.
I’m informed that it was purchased in February 1931 and worn on two occasions.
