Stunning Victorian 1850s Black velvet, Silk and Lace Bustle Skirt, with a stunning fishtail back.
The front is cut flat with two panels, to the studded and lace up back, there are six panels to give a very generous Burke or fishtail look.
The appliqué Black lace is completely all hand made and originated from Caen in France.
The waist is on a woven linen/hemp band, and this is still very firm.
The skirt has alternating velvet and satin banding, with black lace panels between each. The skirt has a very robust boiled wool panel along the bottom edge for durability and is lined in a silk and linen. Some areas have been repaired and there are a few areas which need a stitch or two. It’s without rot or age marks.
This skirt would make a stunning addition to any gothic themed wardrobe, lace or antique fashion collection, it has been professionally cleaned and is ready to wear.
The measurements given have been taken seam to seam when the garment was laid flat and relaxed. Please compare the sizes given for an exact fit.
