Antique 1720s Fall Cap. Hand Made using Black Silk Net, the internal work is flat in style and the outer panels of Italian lace are very slightly raised. This item is a very very early piece, nevertheless the fabric of the lace is quite strong and without rot, odour or age damage. The lace is of Brussels making, with Italian, Spanish and French influences. The outer panels are of the traditional floral design whilst the centre is uniformly sewn circles. It really is exquisite.
This gorgeous item is all hand made, and part of my heirloom collection, which I am thinning down.

Width at its deepest part; 11.75" - 30cm
This item is from my own collection dating from the 1700s. It is been used, twice for mourning and then stored since the late 1800s.
The edges of the Fall Cap will require attention as some areas are not quite trimmed.
Made by my Grandmothers who originally came from Italy, later settling in southern France, it appears to have styles and work taken from both the French, Spanish and with Italian traditional floral designs.
