Antique 1880s Raw Linen Bed Cover or Bedspread Throw, or Boudoir Sham, with Exstensive 2 tone Drawn Work in Silk.
The linen is homespun, and is quite heavy, it has a beautiful feel and lays extreamly well upon any table. These fabulous linen items were also adapted in the boudoir and make the most luxurious bed shams or throws.
The cloth and the needlework has been done by hand. It originates from Norther France and was made by my maternal great great grandmother who came from Italy. It was given as a Dowry gift in the 1880s and has remained unused.
To the edges there are hand Drawn borders or minute Jours, if you look closely you can see the needle work, which is done in silk.
The Drawn work is mostly finished in a coffee Creme silk thread, to give added depth and in contrast to the cloth.

I'm downsizing my linen collections, the cloth is stored in a controlled temperature room, and it's a shame that no one ever gets to see it's true beauty. It deserves to be used and shown off, either as a topper over a pure white tablecloth or in the boudoir as a throw or bed sham.
