Vintage 1940s Duster Coat Faux Astrakhan Luxurious Quilted Silk Lining Exquisite Stunning 40s Jacket
Vintage 1940s Couture Duster Coat in a black Wool Faux Astrakhan.
The coat is extremely stylised, with square shoulders, and wide sleeves with bracelet styling. At the wrist there are internal storm cuffs to hug the wrists, without losing the style of the bracelet sleeve.
The collar is slightly stiffened, with sweetheart detailing. This can be worn up against the neck or laid flat over the shoulder
The cut is a traditional duster design with a very generous swing back. It has two ties inside, to pull the coat together, with a large Ornate Bakelite buckle to fasten - centre or it may be worn loose edge to edge.
On the right hand side inner lining, there is a small heart shaped secret pocket
The garment is completely lined in a heavyweight black silk satin, which is quilted in wool, with an overlay or silk embroidery. The lining has been hand stitched into the coat by the tailor.
Originally purchased directly from a couture boutique in London in November 1942 It was added to a private fashion collection in February 1960 where it was stored in a controlled environment.
Perhaps worn twice, if at all.
