Vintage 1940s Shirt Dress Stunning 40s Belted Big Pockets Dagger Collar
Stunning 1940s Pinstripe wool and silk Dress
The gown is a Designer Sample and has remained stored since about the mid 1940s.
The back pleating at the waist and shoulders is exquisite. There is also hand stitched gathering on the bodice.
Large buttons to the front and button detailing on the pockets, along with the belt buckle, are all original faux tortoise shell.
It’s darted to the bodice to compliment the female form.,
The fabric is quite firm, as is the hand stitching, with most of the seems being reinforced with silk bands.
The seams are cut to form a chevron, please see photos. The shoulders are square, the original pads are present.
I’ve taken these measurements whilst the dress was laid flat and relaxed.

The lower bodice of the dress fits into the waist then flows over the hips to give a stunning skirt made up of panels that run from the lower waist. The skirt is very generously cut
The neck is cut with an over large dagger collar and the side zip is free running, 12” and made by opti.
This is the most gorgeous dress, perfect for jiving and jitterbugging, its original and genuine early 1940s
